Quantitative real-time PCR was used to detect survivin and VEGF mRNA levels in the cell fraction of peripheral blood in NSCLC patients before and after surgery and BLD patients.
These results suggest that VEGF can regulate local immune gene expression in vivo and should be further explored as a potential exogenous therapy for various lung diseases.
The lack of VEGF in some disease entities may provide implications for its substitution, whereas its overexpression in other lung disorders has led to interventions for the attenuation of its action.
