This is the first report to show that the combination of current-smoking and harboring high-risk GSTM1, GSTP1 and/or GSTA1 genotypes is interactively associated with the risk of NAFLD.
This is the first report to show that the combination of current-smoking and harboring high-risk GSTM1, GSTP1 and/or GSTA1 genotypes is interactively associated with the risk of NAFLD.
The GSTM1-null genotype was significantly associated with the development of NAFLD (odds ratios [OR]=2.171, 95% confidence intervals [CI]=1.188-3.970, p=0.015).
The incidence of NAFLD was 27.3%.The frequency of the GSTM1 null genotype was higher in NAFLD than in the control [adjusted odds ratio (OR), 2.00; 95% confidence intervals (CI), 1.01-3.95].
