Although it has been reported that X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis (XIAP) causes more severe chemoresistance in ovarian cancer cells and is highly expressed in chemoresistant ovarian cancer, the molecular mechanism underlying this dysregulation is unknown.
Our data suggest that multiple miRNAs can regulate XIAP via its 3'UTR. miR-137 can sensitise ovarian cancer cells to cisplatin-induced apoptosis, providing new insight into overcoming drug resistance in ovarian cancer.
Overexpression of miR-509-3p can not only downregulate the expression of XIAP in ovarian cancer cells but also inhibit the proliferation of EOC cells and increase their sensitivity to cisplatin-induced apoptosis.
Overexpression of fatty acid synthase in Middle Eastern epithelial ovarian carcinoma activates AKT and Its inhibition potentiates cisplatin-induced apoptosis.
