Combined effects of CD44 rs187115</span> polymorphism (GG/AG vs. AA) and environmental factors (smoking and drinking) further increased the risk of CRC.
In this study, we observed that rs187115 was associated with the risk of cervical, lung, and liver cancer, but not with the risk of breast, gastric, colon, rectal or colorectal cancer.
We found that the variant genotypes (CT and TT) of rs13347 (adjusted odds ratio (OR)=1.79, 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.50-2.17) increased an individual's susceptibility to CRC, compared with rs13347CC homozygous genotypes.
