We identified a small cohort of WHO grade II-III astrocytomas that harbored the IDH1R132H mutation, as confirmed by both immunohistochemistry and molecular sequence analysis, which nonetheless had unexpectedly rapid recurrence and subsequent progression to glioblastoma.
