Estrogen receptors alpha (rs2234693 and rs9340799), and beta (rs4986938 and rs1256049) genes polymorphism in prostate cancer: evidence for association with risk and histopathological tumor characteristics in Iranian men.
For rs9340799, heterozygosity of T/C carriers showed a significant increased prostate cancer risk with a pooled odds ratio (OR) of 1.34 (95% CI = 1.06-1.69) while homozygote C/C carriers showed an increased but not statistically significant association with prostate cancer risk (pooled OR = 1.29, 95% CI = 0.94-1.79).
In conclusion, this meta-analysis indicated that ESR1 rs9340799 polymorphism was associated with prosta</span>te cancer risk in overall populations, Caucasians and Africans, while ESR2 rs1256049 polymorphism was associated with prostate cancer risk in Caucasians.
Studies on the association between two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in estrogen receptor α (ERα), PvuII (rs2234693 T>C) and XbaI (rs9340799 A>G), and the prostate cancer risk are inconsistent.
