In this study, we provide in vitro and in vivo characterization of a series of novel peptide growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a) agonists, both under nonpathologic conditions and in the context of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced anorexia.
Our results demonstrate that Z-505 ameliorates cisplatin- and 5-FU-induced anorexia through the activation of the ghrelin receptor, GHSR1a, suggesting its usefulness in the preventive treatment of anorexia during chemotherapy.
