A sample of 112 twins [n = 51 met lifetime DSM-IV ED criteria (anorexia nervosa n = 26; bulimic disorders n = 24), n = 19 unaffected cotwins and n = 42 control twins] was administered measures assessing reward reactivity, including the Game of Dice Task, the Behavioural Inhibition/Activation (BIS/BAS) Scales and the Appetitive Motivation Scale (AMS).
A secondary osteoporosis associated with the VFC was diagnosed in 52 patients: glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (25.7%), non-malignant hemopathies (6.2%), alcoholism (4.4%), use of aromatase inhibitors (3.6%), primary hyperparathyroidism (2.7%), hypercorticism (2.7%), anorexia nervosa (2.7%), and pregnancy and lactation-associated osteoporosis (1.8%).
A total of eleven of genes were differently expressed in celiac patients compared with disease controls of which CD36, CD38, FOXP1, SELL, PPARA, PPARG, AGT previously associated with type 2 diabetes and AKAP6, NTNG1 with anorexia nervosa remained significant after correction for multiple testing.

Accordingly, the aim of this article is to review the current state of the art of leptin in relation to AN to provide the theoretical basis for the initiation of clinical trials for treatment of this eating disorder.
Adolescents with typical AN had significantly lower BMI (P<0.001), lumbar spine z-score (P=0.016), serum E2 (P<0.001), LH (P=0.016), PRL (P=0.034) and TSH (P=0.045) than controls.
After 2 wk of refeeding, postprandial glucose remained lower, and glucagon and GLP-1 higher, in patients with AN than HCs ( P < 0.05) without differences in gastric emptying, baseline glucagon, or postprandial insulin.
AGRP rs13338499 polymorphism was associated with lowest illness-related BMI in those with AN (p = 0.0013), and NTRK2rs1042571 was associated with highest BMI in those with BN (p = 0.0018).
Although 5-HTTLPR modulates serotonin reuptake by the serotonin transporter, our analyses provide no evidence that susceptibility to AN is modified by 5-HTTLPR alone, nor in concert with as yet undetermined functional effects of the NETpPR polymorphism.
Although, at present, no convincing evidence for associations of candidate genes with EDs has been provided, the 5-HT(2A) receptor gene and the BDNF gene seem to be promising candidates for genetic influences on AN, since polymorphic variants of these genes have been found quite consistently, although not specifically, linked to AN restricting subtype in large sample studies.

Altogether, for the first time, IL-1α, IL-10, EGF, and IFN-γ were shown to differ between AN and HCs, and between AN and individuals with obesity with or without BED.Only IL-2 was influenced by depression.
An influence of alleles of the DRD4 on the development of AN, underweight, or extreme early onset obesity was not detected.Am.J. Med.Genet.(Neuropsychiatr.Genet.)88:594-597, 1999.
Analysis of haplotypes at ESR1 and ESR2 showed no significant evidence of association with AN suggesting that the variability in ESR2 alone may contribute to the genetic susceptibility to AN.
