In the first stage, we found a significantly increased frequency of more than one copy of TLR7 (located on the X chromosome) in male BD patients and more than two copies in female patients (correction of P value [PC] = 0.021; PC = 0.048, respectively).
Among the TLR2, TLR7, and TLR9 polymorphisms included in this review, one Asian study revealed a significant association between the TLR7rs5743733 and rs3853839 with BD (p = 0.002, 0.036) and one Asian study showed an association of TLR9 rs352140 with BD (p = 0.009).
We investigated whether polymorphisms of Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) are associated with BD by analyzing the frequency of eight single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within 200 Japanese BD patients and 102 randomized controls.
