The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between ADH1C and CYP2E1 gene polymorphisms with oral squamous cell carcinoma in an ethnically homogeneous Caucasian population.
In OSCC patients, ADH1C*2/*2 genotypes showed a relatively higher risk (odds ratio 2.65; 95% CI = 1.78-3.53) in heavy drinkers and a less significant risk (1.6; 95% CI = 1.15-2.03) in moderate drinkers and negligible risk in light drinkers (1.23; 95% CI = 0.77-1.63).
