Collectively, our data demonstrated that miR‑146b‑5p, as a tumor suppressor, mediated temozolomide resistance in GBM cells through negatively regulating TRAF6 expression, indicating that miR‑146b‑5p and its targeted genes would be potential therapeutic targets for glioma therapy.
Moreover, TRAF6 expression was positively correlated with glioma grades and Ki-67 index but inversely correlated with miR-146b-5p expression and predicted poor prognosis of glioma patients.
To investigate the role of TRAF6 in cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, and migration of glioma, we generated human glioma U-87MG cell lines in which TRAF6 was either overexpressed or depleted.
