Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis indicated that target genes of upregulated miRNAs were enriched in pathways in cancer, microRNAs in cancer and proteoglycans in cancer, while the target genes of downregulated miRNAs were mainly associated with pathways in cancer, the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and HTLV-I infection.
With mRNA-seq analysis we found abundant gene changes after SCN1A knockout, which associated with various signaling pathways, such as cancer pathways, the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, the MAPK signaling pathway, and pathways involved in HTLV-I infection.
Therefore, NDRG2 works as a PP2A recruiter to suppress not only PI3K/AKT signaling but also NF-κB signaling, which is particularly important in host defenses or immune responses to Human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) infection.
