This study was aimed to evaluate the role of dietary phenol caffeic acid (CA), alone and in combination with selective COX-2 inhibitor celecoxib (CEL) in IR-induced acute renal failure (ARF) in rats.
Since iPGE<sub>2</sub> also mediates both cisplatin-induced HK-2 cell apoptosis, intervention in the COX-2/iPGE<sub>2</sub>/EP receptor pathway might provide us with new therapeutic avenues in patients with cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury.
In five patients, another concomitant nephrotoxic agent (injection of contrast-product, use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or cox-2 inhibitors) or occurrence of an acute medical event potentially associated with AKI (diarrhea, sepsis) was identified.
