COPD exacerbations during hot summer periods happened more often to patients with a history of myocardial infarction (<i>P</i>=0.014) or active smokers (<i>P</i>=0.011).
Patients with myocardial infarction and concomitant COPD are at increased risk of poor clinical outcomes, including death, as compared to patients without COPD.
