The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)2-angiotensin‑(Ang)-(1-7)-Mas axis in the pathogenesis of pancreatitis and the association between this axis and the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK)/nuclear factor (NF-κB) signaling pathway in pancreatic acinar cells.
According to the results of our meta-analysis, the ACE I/D polymorphism probably associates with pancreatitis risk, especially acute pancreatitis risk, with the I allele acting as a risk factor.
