Furthermore, wheezing children with MPP had a significantly higher level of IL-10 than children with MPP without wheezing (43.75±26.644 vs. 27.50±10.211 pg/ml, p=0.027).
The results showed that the expression level of thrombomodulin (TM), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), d-dimer (D-D), interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-10 were upregulated after MPP both clinically in children and in the mouse model.
They also simultaneously had lower interleukin-10 levels than patients with respiratory syncytial virus pneumonia who had interleukin-10 levels comparable to those of patients with bacterial pneumonia, indicating a significant difference in the interleukin-6/interleukin-10 ratio between patients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia and respiratory syncytial virus pneumonia (median interleukin-6/interleukin-10 ratio, 2.5 vs 0.5; p < 0.001).
Compared with sequential treatment with azithromycin alone, pidotimod combined with azithromycin significantly reduced the expression levels of IL-10 and G-CSF in serum of children with mycoplasma pneumonia, improved the curative effect and reduced the occurrence of adverse reactions, which has high application value in clinic.
