The expression of α7nAChR, toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), and cleaved caspase-3 increased, peaking 24 h during sepsis.
The effect may be mediated by up-regulation of survivin via activation of NF-κB, which leads to reduced activation of caspase-3 and consequent apoptosis of cardiomyocytes in experimental sepsis.
Following sepsis induction, diagnosis, the brains were analyzed for both function and ultrastructural morphology. We determined that IAH exacerbated sepsis induces sepsis-associated encephalopathy when examining low score of neurological function and more delta wave in EEG, increased neuronal edema in LPS + IAH group, as well as an escalation of Bax and Cleaved-caspase-3, Cleaved-parp, and reduction of Bcl-2 and Mfsd2a in LPS + IAH group.
In this study, we investigated the prognostic value of cfDNA in patients with sepsis and its possible correlation with caspase-3, IL-6 and IL-18 levels.
Western blot and quantitative real time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) were conducted to detect the protein and mRNA expression levels of LC3, Beclin-1, activated caspase-3, p-Akt (308), p-Akt (472), Akt and NKILA in kidney tissues of sepsis rats at different time points, respectively.
The percentage of the immunostained positive area in the spiral ligament significantly correlated with the grade of hearing loss for BAX (<i>P</i>=0.027) and Cleaved-caspase 3 (<i>P</i>=0.024) but not for BCL 2 (<i>P</i>>0.05).The present data suggests that severe, non-lethal sepsis in mice results in significantly elevated hearing thresholds.
Sevoflurane exerts brain-protective effects against sepsis-associated encephalopathy and memory impairment through caspase 3/9 and Bax/Bcl signaling pathway in a rat model of sepsis.
