Our results suggest that CS/COL scaffolds that bind FGF-2 and BMP-2 in combination with PDCs could be a promising new strategy for tissue engineering periosteum.
Ultimately, this investigation shows our tissue engineered periosteum can deliver FGF-2, TGF-β1, and ASCs to a mouse critical-sized femur defect and further optimization may yield improved bone allograft healing.
