The IHC characteristic of GIST in descending order showed positivity for vimentin (88.9%), CD117 (83.3%), CD34 (77.8%), Ki67 (63.9%), SMA (38.9%), desmin (27.8%), and S100 (19.4%).
Immunohistochemical examination was performed with primary antibodies to CD34, CD117, SMA, and vimentin, and TMEM16a (DOG-1), the latter was used for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST) consisting of TCs.
Snail expression was significantly negatively correlated with E-cadherin expression (r's=-0.276, P=0.017) but not with Vimentin expression (r's=0.041, P=0.728) in GISTs.
Immunohistochemical analysis of KIT, CD34, vimentin, alpha-smooth muscle actin (SMA), s-100, p53, ki-67, bcl-2 and bax expression was performed on 20 surgically resected GIST.
