Here, we review the intricate role of miR-155 in cancer by exemplifying carcinogenesis of various tumors, focusing on recent findings that may provide a link between miR-155 and esophageal cancer-related pathways.
The expression of miR-155 and fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF2) in EC tissues and cell lines were analyzed using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot assays.
In conclusion, results suggest that circulating miR-155 in plasma may serve as a reliable, novel, noninvasive biomarker for early diagnosis and detection of esophageal cancer.
