<b>Conclusions:</b><i>FOXO3a</i> rs9400239T and rs4945816C may constitute risk factors for HT, independent of the vitamin D status. This indicates the implication of FOXO3a in pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroid diseases.
<i>Purpose</i>: To evaluate the ocular surface characteristics based on Schirmer's test, tear break-up time (TBUT), and conjunctival impression cytology (CIC) in children with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT).
<i>Results.</i> The percentage of CRTH2+ lymphocytes was higher in nodules with HT in comparison with controls, both in FNAB samples (13.95 versus 6.7%, <i>p</i> = 0.008) and in peripheral blood (6.7 versus 5.13%, <i>p</i> = 0.047), and positively correlated with serum antibodies to thyroid peroxidase (<i>r</i> = 0.243; <i>p</i> = 0.026) and negatively correlated with thyroid volume (<i>r</i> = -0.346; <i>p</i> = 0.008).
2) In Her-2 tolerant C57BL/6 mice expressing HLA-DR3, an EAT-susceptibility allele, Her-2 DNA vaccinations must follow Treg depletion for (Her-2xDR3)F(1) mice to resist tumor challenge; thyroiditis incidence was moderated by the EAT-resistant IA(b) allele.
Hashimoto's thyroiditis was found to be negatively associated with DQA1*0102 and DQB1*0602 whereas Graves' disease showed a negative association with DQB1*0501.
