The microRNA-371a-3p (miR-371a-3p) has been reported to be an informative liquid biopsy (serum and plasma) molecular biomarker for both diagnosis and follow-up of patients with a malignant (testicular) germ cell tumor ((T)GCT).
Unlike in serum, miR-371-3 cannot be considered as markers in seminal plasma, whereas miR-142 levels in seminal plasma may be a potential marker for testicular cancer.
RESULTS show that qPCR can be used without endogenous control for analyzing miR-371-3 in the serum of patients with testicular cancer and male controls if the technical procedure is performed under controlled conditions.
