The mean concentration of VEGF (94.1 ± 40.4 pg/mL) was significantly higher in the NAION group compared to the cataract controls (52.2 ± 20.8 pg/mL; P = .010) and the mean concentration of IL-2 (5.56 ± 1.27 pg/mL) was significantly lower in the NAION group than in the cataract controls (16.6 ± 14.0 pg/mL; P = .002).
