Cyclin D1 expression in >10% of positive cells was observed mostly in the clear cell RCC, while p57 expression in ≤5% of positive cells was found in 86% of chromophobe RCC specimens.
Expression of p27 and the related cyclins (cyclin A, cyclin E, and cyclin D1) was examined immunohistochemically in 67 patients with of clear cell RCC.
The high frequency (43%) of Cyclin D1 overexpression and the presence of functional cyclin D1-specific T cells in 83% of these patients with ccRCC suggest that cyclin D1 may be a target for immunotherapeutic strategies.
