Expression of Notch1, EOMES (associated with perforin and granzyme B secretion), p-mTOR and p-AKT (associated with cell proliferation) was decreased in CD8+ T cells from MDS after co-culture with excess exogenous Gal-9.
Taken together, these data indicate that miR‑21 targets the PTEN/AKT pathway in the pathogenesis of MDS and could be a potential target for MDS therapy.
We demonstrated higher protein levels of the PI3K subunit p110 in neutrophils from MDS patients and found that though the fMLP-induced phosphorylation of PKB/Akt and ERK1/2 could also be enhanced by pretreatment with GM-CSF in these patients, the degree and kinetics of PKB/Akt and ERK1/2 phosphorylation were significantly disturbed.
