Low ileal expression of interleukin (IL)-10, TGF-β, FoxP3, Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR-2) and TLR-4 transcripts correlated significantly with a high clinical disease activity in the JIA patients.
FLS were cultured from synovial fluid (SF) of patients with JIA and subsequently stimulated for 48 h by different TLR ligands [peptidoglycan (PG) for TLR2, poly(I-C) for TLR3, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for TLR4, flagellin for TLR5, imiquimod for TLR7 and CpG DNA for TLR9].
Epistatic interaction between TLR4 haplotypes and the previously JIA associated MIF CATT(7)-MIF-173*C promoter haplotype was investigated by chi(2) test and unconditional logistic regression in Stata version 7.
