rs28898617 (UGT1A6, A > G) variation was associated with an increase in NCVPA. rs2279020 (GABRA1, G > A) variation was associated with a decreased risk of developing VPA-resistant epilepsy.
We investigated the association of single-nucleotide polymorphisms in GABA(A) receptor subunit subtype genes namely; rs2279020 (GABRA1), rs3219151 (GABRA6), rs2229944 (GABRB2), and rs211037 (GABRG2) with predisposition to epilepsy and AED resistance.
The aim of our study was to find out the possible role of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) present in GABRA1 IVS11+15 A>G (rs2279020) and GABRG2 588C>T (rs211037) genes in seizure susceptibility and pharmaco-resistance in northern Indian patients with epilepsy.
