Angiopoietin-like 2 (ANGPTL2), a secreted protein which belongs to the angiopoietin (ANGPTL) family, was reported to be involved in the regulation of several different type of cancer cell proliferation and metastasis.
Angiopoietin-like protein 2 (ANGPTL2) is associated with tumor progression while dysregulation of its expression has been observed in various types of cancer.
Immunofluorescence and western blotting showed a positive correlation between the expression of Arp2/3 and the malignancy of glioma specimens (r=0.686, P=0.02) and confocal microscopy demonstrated localization of the Arp2/3 complex in lamellipodia of glioma cells.
Spearman's rank correlation analysis showed a significant correlation between the ANGPTL2 mRNA level and the degree of vascular invasion of cancer (r=0.66; P=0.01).
The expression of ANGPTL2 in highly malignant gastric cancer cell lines BGC823 and PAMC82 was significantly higher than in low malignancy gastric cancer cell lines N87 and SGC7901.
