In the diffuse type of gastric cancer, the High-HOTAIR group (HOTAIR/GAPDH > 1) showed significantly more venous invasion, frequent lymph node metastases and a lower overall survival rate compared to the Low-HOTAIR group (HOTAIR/GAPDH < 1).
Interestingly, GAPDH protein immunoexpression was higher in thick melanomas and distant metastases than in thin tumors and lymph node metastases, respectively.
In Cox proportional hazards regression analysis, delayed cervical lymph node metastasis (p = 0.039) and tumor cell positive surgical margin (p = 0.032) in addition to CD151/GAPDH (p = 0.024) were detected as significant factors for death outcome.
