In this article, we report a co-up-regulation and colocalization of MT1-MMP and atypical protein kinase C iota (aPKCι) in hormone receptor-negative breast tumors in association with a higher risk of metastasis.
Our results indicate that PRKCI is an attractive target in the 3q26 amplicon and that it may serve as a molecular marker for metastasis and occult advanced tumor stages in ESCC.
Taken together, these data provide convincing evidence that an inhibitor of atypical PKC signaling inhibits two key oncogenic signaling pathways, driven non-redundantly by PKCι and PKCζ, to significantly reduce tumor growth and metastasis.
