The immunohistochemical expression of 3 ABC transporters, including ABC subfamily C member 2 (ABCC2), ABCC3 and ABC subfamily G member 2 (ABCG2), and 3 CSC markers, including sex determining region Y-box 2 (SOX2), leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor 5 and aldehyde dehydrogenase 1, were determined in 164 CC tissues from patients with stage III CC, who underwent postoperative FOLFOX-4 chemotherapy.
Furthermore, differences were shown in gene expression of several transport proteins (MDR1 and MRP1-MRP5) and CYP3A4 in different human colon carcinoma derived cell lines. hPXR mRNA was expressed in all three cell lines but the amount of mRNA detected was significantly higher in LS180 cells than in Caco-2 and TC-7 cells.
We examined the effects of suppressing multidrug resistance-associated protein (MRP) and multidrug resistance 1 (MDR1) gene expression in HCT-8DDP human colon cancer cell lines, which showed both cisplatin and multidrug resistance.
