In conclusion, this meta-analysis indicated that miRNA27a rs895819 might play a protective role in diabetes, and miRNA146a rs2910164 likely had no association with diabetes.
The miR-146a rs2910164 polymorphism might be associated with carotid vulnerable plaque risk in Chinese type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, particularly in older patients, females, those with diabetes duration of more than 10 years and those with hypertension.
Although the CC genotype of rs2910164 significantly increased the risk of MI under dominant and additive models (P < 0.05), this difference disappeared after adjustment for age, sex, blood pressure, triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and diabetes.
