In the present study, expression of lung tissue (t)-CXCL16 and t-CXCR6 was examined in 58 patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using immunohistochemical staining, and serum (s)-CXCL16 levels were detected in 58 patients with NSCLC and in 32 normal volunteers using an ELISA.
Follow-up functional analyses showed that these SNPs were associated with the expression of EGFR, which encodes the TKI target, and with a nearby gene neuromedin-U, which encodes a G protein-coupled receptor ligand known to be involved in the progression of NSCLC.
The expression of CXCR6 and CXCL16 has been examined in numerous human cancers; however no studies have yet investigated their influence on prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
