Real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction confirmed definite overexpression of WiNTRLINC1 mRNA in primary colon cancer compared with the corresponding normal colon mucosa tissues (p = 0.0005), such as ASCL2, c-Myc, and PRL-3 (p < 0.0001).
However, overexpression of PRL-3 in colon cancer cells and primary fibroblasts promotes structural abnormalities of telomeres, telomere deprotection, DNA damage response, chromosomal instability and senescence.
In tumor cells, PRL-3 mRNA levels varied markedly with high expression in SKNAS neuroblastoma, MCF-7 and BT474 breast carcinoma, Hep3B hepatocellular carcinoma, and HCT116 colon carcinoma.
