ALDH1 was an independent favorable prognostic marker for overall survival or recurrence-free survival in adenocarcinoma (P = 0.026 and P = 0.033, respectively).
In addition, high expression of ALDH1A1 mRNA was also found to be correlated to better OS in adenocarcinoma (Ade) patients (HR 0.71 [0.57-0.9], P=0.0044) but not in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) patients (HR 0.92 [0.72-1.16], P=0.48).
We compared the clinicopathological characteristics, including survival data and immunohistochemical profiles of stem cell markers (SOX2, NOTCH3, CD44v6, CD166, ALDH1) of micropapillary carcinomas with those of randomly selected 112 conventional adenocarcinomas lacking micropapillary carcinoma components (non-micropapillary carcinoma) in the colorectum.
We isolated ovarian CSCs/CICs as an aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 high (ALDH1(high)) population from 6 EOC cell lines (3 serous adenocarcinomas and 3 clear cell adenocarcinomas) by the ALDEFLUOR assay.
We examined 45 matched primary/recurrent tumor pairs of high-grade ovarian adenocarcinomas for expression of CSC markers ALDH1A1, CD44, and CD133 using immunohistochemistry.
