In addition, we have found a relation between HSPA1A gene expression regulation and the presence of disease specific autoantibodies in patients with SLE and myositis.
On analysis of common genetic variants of HspA1L, HspA1A and HspA1B, a haplotype significantly associated with SLE in the Erlangen-SLE cohort was identified, which was confirmed in the OMRF cohort.
Our data indicate that HSP70-2 gene polymorphism as opposed to the other ethnic groups does not appear to be relevant in SLE susceptibility in Mexican patients and that the distribution of the different alleles depend on the frequency of HLA alleles associated with them.
The level of the heat inducible hsp70 protein (hsp72) has been shown to be elevated in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells of a subset of SLE patients.
