Expression of miR-16-5p was reduced relative to control brain tissue in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-mutant astrocytomas of World Health Organization (WHO) grades II, III and IV, and a subset of IDH-wildtype glioblastomas WHO grade IV.
The expression level of miR16 positively correlates with GSCs differentiation, but negatively with the abilities of migration, motility, invasion and colony formation in glioblastoma cells.
The expression of microRNA-16 was detected in human GBM samples and normal brain tissues. microRNA-16 was transfected to GBM cell line U87 and A172 then the function of endothelial cells co-cultured with U87/A172 (miR-16 or control) were observed in vitro.
