Pooled results showed that PIN1 overexpression was significantly associated with the advanced clinical stages of cancer (OR = 1.37, 95% CI 1.06-1.78), positive lymph node metastasis (OR = 1.65, 95% CI 1.15-2.37) and poor prognosis (HR = 2.40, 95% CI 1.55-3.74), although no correlation with poor differentiation was found.
Besides, low miR-370 and high PIN1 expression significantly correlated with tumor diameter, poor differentiation, tumor invasion and lymph node metastasis in patients diagnosed with ESCC.
We also found that expression of miRNA-200b is down-regulated in human breast cancer during lymph node metastasis, which has a significant negative correlation with Pin1 expression.
We report that Pin1 mRNA correlates with Cyclin D1 mRNA expression and the expression of many cyclin genes is associated with lymph node metastasis in OSCC.
