Kallikrein-related peptidase 6 (KLK6) overexpression is commonly observed in primary tumors of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients and has been associated with tumor aggressiveness, metastasis, and poor prognosis.
Elevated expression of kallikrein 6 (KLK6), a member of a kallikrein subfamily of peptidase S1 family serine proteases, has been reported in CRC and is associated with low patient survival rates and poor disease prognosis.
The results of this study indicated that KLK6 mRNA expression was significantly higher in cancerous than in noncancerous colorectal tissues, and high expression of KLK6 mRNA correlated with serosal invasion, liver metastasis, advanced Duke's stage, and a poor prognosis for patients with colorectal cancer.
