These results indicate a novel function for Prv-1 as a signaling molecule in cytokine signaling cascades and may lead to a greater understanding of the mechanism of overexpression of Prv-1 in myeloproliferative disorders.
We also studied PRV-1 methylation and mRNA expression in patients with Philadelphia chromosome-negative myeloproliferative disorders and in an in vitro model of DNA demethylation.
Decreased expression of c-MPL protein in platelets, increased expression of polycythemia rubra vera 1 (PRV-1) and nuclear factor I-B (NFIB) mRNA in granulocytes, and loss of heterozygosity on chromosome 9p (9pLOH) were described as molecular markers for myeloproliferative disorders (MPDs).
