Tumor microarrays from patients with primary human colon cancers (n = 115) and CRC liver metastases (n = 111) were used to evaluate the prevalence of ASCT2, the primary glutamine transporter in oncology, by immunohistochemistry.
In conclusion, our results provide for the first time the differential expression in human colorectal cancer and normal tissues, and a functional link between SLC1A5 expression and growth and survival of colorectal cancer, making it an attractive target in colorectal cancer treatment.
