To evaluate the ratio of matriptase/HAI‑1 and their potential therapeutic value in ovarian cancer, HO‑8910 human ovarian cancer cells and the homologous high‑metastatic HO‑8910PM cells were used as in vitro cellular models ovarian cancer.
HAI-1 and HAI-2 show potential inhibitory effects mediated by reduction of matriptase and hepsin expression which leads to apoptosis through increasing the level of Bak and reducing the level of Bcl-2 on ovarian cancer.
Matriptase cleaves and activates proteins implicated in the progression of ovarian cancer and represents a potential prognostic and therapeutic target.
