The present study examined the effects of tetrandrine suppressing proliferation, targeting LC3, p62, and Beclin-1 autophagy genes by inhibiting PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling in Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) MDA-MB-231 cell.
In conclusion, our study suggests that LC3 and Beclin-1 are required for cell proliferation, survival, migration and invasion, and may contribute to tumor growth and progression of highly aggressive and metastatic TNBC cells and therapeutic targeting of autophagy genes may be a potential therapeutic strategy for TNBC in breast cancer.
Cantharidin inhibits autophagy by suppressing Beclin-1 expression and inducing apoptosis of TNBC cells in vitro and in vivo, thereby representing a potential strategy for the treatment of TNBC.
In particular, expression of LC3A, LC3B and beclin-1 was highest in TNBC tumour cells, whereas that of LC3A and LC3B in the tumour stroma was lowest in TNBC.
