Analyses in 5p15.33 identified statistically significant prognostic associations for rs56266421-G in <i>LPCAT1</i> (HR = 1.86; 95% CI, 1.38-2.52; <i>P</i> = 4.5 × 10<sup>-5</sup>) in stage I-IIIA NSCLC, and for the <i>SLC6A3</i> gene with OS in females with NSCLC (<i>P</i> = 1.6 × 10<sup>-3</sup>).
Statistically significant interactions were found between intake of red and processed meat and <i>CCAT2</i> rs6983267, <i>TP53</i> rs1042522, <i>LPCAT1</i> rs7737692, <i>SLC25A20</i> rs7623023 (<i>p</i><sub>interaction</sub> = 0.04, 0.04, 0.02, 0.03, respectively), and the use of NSAID and alcohol intake and <i>TP53</i> rs1042522 (<i>p</i><sub>interaction</sub> = 0.04, 0.04, respectively) in relation to the risk of CRC.
After adjusting for known risk loci, rs2736100 and rs401681, we identified a new, independent lung cancer susceptibility variant in LPCAT1: rs139852726 (OR = 0.46, P = 4.73×10(-9)), and three new adenocarcinoma risk variants in TERT: rs61748181 (OR = 0.53, P = 2.64×10(-6)), rs112290073 (OR = 1.85, P = 1.27×10(-5)), rs138895564 (OR = 2.16, P = 2.06×10(-5); among young cases, OR = 3.77, P = 8.41×10(-4)).
