These data suggest that the presence of Fas rs1800683 is an important risk factor for breast cancer, whereas FasL rs763110 may exert a protective effect against the onset of breast cancer.

We observed that LTA rs1800683G>A was significantly associated with risk of progression or relapse in NHL patients (HR = 1.63, 95%CI = 1.06-2.51; P = 0.028), particularly in Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cases (HR = 1.50, 95%CI = 1.10-2.04, P = 0.01).
We therefore investigated the relationship between four SNPs of LTA gene and CAD in Han Chinese: G+10A (rs1800683, 5'-untranslated region), A+80C (rs2239704, 5'-untranslated region), T+496C (Cys13Arg, rs2229094, exon 2), and C+804A (Thr26Asn, rs1041981, exon 3).
Minor homozygous genotypes of polymorphisms in BAT1 (rs2239527, -23C/G), NFKBIL1 (rs2071592, -63T/A) and LTA (rs1800683, -162G/A; rs909253, 252G/A; rs1041981, Thr26Asn) were associated with moderately protective effects against myocardial infarction (P </= 0.045).
